worth the effort

This is the more popular of the two trails down into the canyon from the south rim. Fairly crowded for the first 3/4 miles, the crowds get sparser the lower you go. Watch Your Step!

I started down the Bright Angel, intending to go as far as Indian Gardens and then turn around. However, it began to rain (and thunder and lightening) within a few minutes, so I wussed out and came back up. Good Hike to the 1.5 mile Resthouse

I just hiked the Bright Angel Trail back in July to the 1.5 mile resthouse. It was a great hike and the temperature was cool for this time of year and was overcast. From Rim to River in 5 hours

I was told not to attempt a run from the rim to the river in the same day but I did it anyway. It took (5) hours. It was not that difficult. I am (45) years old and a slow runner. After hiking down South Kaibab Trail and spending the night at Phantom Ranch the day before, my wife & I (both 55) got a late start up Bright Angel Trail...around 7am.
