Lovers of all variety of food are giddy in Colorado for the seventh annual Denver Restaurant Week, really two weeks, from February 26 through March 11, 2011. Over a baker’s dozen Denver Metro neighborhoods are participating. That’s 295 Mile High City culinary experiences including 45 Italian eateries, 32 steak houses, 17 contemporary restaurants and 15 seafood restaurants.
Denver’s city and suburbia dwellers are carefully plotting which one – or perhaps how many of the restaurants participating in DRW will they sample. And DRW offers all culinary appetites the opportunity to sample on a budget. The 295 Denver eateries offer a multi-course dinner for the “mile high” price of $52.80 for two ($26.40 for one, tax and tip not included). Many restaurants are adding an affordable pairing with wine or beer. Last year, some 335,580 meals were served during these two weeks, up 13 percent over the 298,200 meals served in 2009.
Denver is earning its reputation as a dining destination, adding more restaurants to the Four Diamond list this year (only Atlanta and Las Vegas added more). During DRW, all six of Denver’s 2011 AAA Four Diamond award winners (Panzano, Colt & Gray, Mizuna, Rioja, Restaurant Kevin Taylor and Palace Arms) are offering $52.80 DRW pricing this year. The Edge Restaurant & Bar, inside the recently opened Four Seasons Denver, is also participating.
The annual Denver Restaurant Week was the tasty creation of VISIT DENVER, The Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2005. The event began with 84 restaurants and has more than tripled in restaurant participation since then.
Reservations are highly recommended. For a complete list of all 295 participating restaurants and menus, visit: www.DenverRestaurantWeek.com.
For those wanting to extend their culinary experience overnight, VISIT Denver also offers Denver hotel deals, starting at $52.80. Many properties such as Grand Hyatt Hotel are also participating in DRW.
