Go ahead, splurge! At Casa Velas all inclusive dining includes room service
Room Service at All Inclusive Casa Velas
There’s something about ordering room service that screams, “I’m on vacation.” Just looking at the in room menu makes me happy. Why? Because room service is a luxury that I don’t often allow myself. However, I splurged on breakfast at a recent stay at Casa Velas Resort because the Puerto Vallarta adult-only boutique hotel is an all inclusive resort.
I simply called dining the night before, ordered my eggs, juice and a basket of bread for 7:30 a.m. delivery and hit the sack. Like magic, my scrambled eggs arrived the next morning, hot, with ham, Mexican cheese, fried potatoes, fresh squeezed orange juice and home made pastries. Seeing that I was in Puerto Vallarta, a side of re-fried beans accompanied my breakfast order. Read More »

Two years earlier while on another family/friend vacation, a group of friends raved about the service, margaritas and tacos at La Cueva Del Pescador, “The Cave of the Fisherman.” After experiencing USDA Prime Beef at Wicky’s in Playa, I really wanted to experience authentic Mexican dishes, so no way was I going to miss this day trip from Playa del Carmen again. Just over 30 minutes from Playa del Carmen, Akumal is a laid back fishing village and a real taste of the Mexican life. Read More »

Sometimes, even in Mexico, all you want is beef, good ol’ fashioned Prime USDA hamburgers or steaks, anything but Mexican food, por favor. Wicky’s Restaurant and Beach House, a beachfront restaurant in Playa del Carmen, serves USDA Prime Beef, Seafood, and American Cuisine in Mexico 7 days a week.

Wicky's USDA Prime Hamburger
It’s easy to find! Take a walk down the Playa del Carmen beach or head toward the Caribbean from 5th Avenue to 10th Street at the base of the El Faro Lighthouse, to Playa’s biggest dining secret, the beachfront restaurant Wicky’s, Playa del Carmen, Restaurant and Beach House.
We were only three days into our Mexican family vacation at the all-inclusive Gran Porto Real, where the food was great, but we were hankering for a Burger. Our family and friends chose a few tables on Wicky’s deck, in the shade overlooking the Caribbean (although lounge chairs were also available on the beach, serviced by the Wicky’s staff). Centrally located, Wicky’s also is a prime Playa beach location. Read More »

Lorenzillo's, Lobster House in Cancun
Mention Cancun, and most people think of sun-drenched beaches, spring break, lots of tequila, dancing and partying all night. But what about that Mexican cuisine? Cancun offers its regional cuisine and seafood plays a big role. Of course, you can always pair that with margaritas or a great bottle of wine. All of which are on the menu at Lorenzillo’s, known as one of the area’s finest Lobster Houses and a long-time Cancun favorite.
Lorenzillo’s has a prime location on the Nichupte Lagoon-side of Cancun’s Hotel Zone on Kukulcan Boulevard. You literally walk the wooden plank (walkway) above the lagoon. To the left of the plank is a bar with seating for a pre or post-dinner drink, and that’s when you enter Lorenzillo’s, enriched by a nautical-esque pirate theme, complete with maps, spyglass, anchors and even a wooden ship’s wheel.
