La Pesquera in Marbella, Spain

Do you like people watching? I love it! I never get tired of grabbing a cup of coffee, a public bench or a window seat, then watching the afternoon crowds pass by.  You never know the cast of characters you will see.

Whenever we travel, I especially love to find a restaurant or cafe with a great vantage point to check out the local scene.  You can get a close-up glimpse of the fashions or just a nice vibe of what the locals are all about.

While we were on holiday in Spain, we found a seaside El Chiringuito, or beach bar, with its red umbrellas facing the sands and rented beach chairs, on the outskirts of the resort town of Marbella.

La Pesquera Restaurante and El Chiringuito is the perfect place for a glass of vino blanca, a snack and some excellent Mediterranean views anytime of year.

In November, we practically had the place to ourselves.  However with this location on the beach, you can easily see how they will be overflowing with locals and tourists alike during the summer months.

We arrived just in time for the late afternoon strolls of ladies with their adorable dogs, couples enjoying the winter sunshine and kids riding their bikes along the paved pathway in front of the beach. This seafood restaurant was a relaxing spot. We shared the Rosada al Limon for 9 Euro and it was just right, crispy with a light lemon flavor.  Rosada is local white fish that paired well with our glass of Tierra Blanca for 2 Euro.

During the winter, with few people occupying the beach chairs, you were seeing mostly locals enjoying themselves.  I saw only two men sitting on the beach, and one of them was repairing his fishing net.
