Nectar Wine Lounge in SF

Nectar Wine Lounge in San Francisco

Looking for a place to have a relaxing conversation with your friends or a date in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco, while sipping on a nice glass of wine?  If you want to skip the busier people watching sideshow of this wine bar on Chestnut Street, Nectar Wine Lounge is the perfect place.

This is the sister wine bar to Nectar in Burlingame, just south of San Francisco.  What is so nice about this location in the city is that you can either sit in the window and enjoy the feel of the Marina scene or you can move inside along their beautifully decorated walls and really have that date night intimacy.  Though I imagine sitting with a glass of wine on any of these beaches trumps any wine bar.

When we go they always seem to have as much on their seasonal dinner menu that I want to taste, as they do on their wine-by-the-glass list.  That might be why they are always busy once the evening gets going. So many temptations. My quick hits of delight off the dinner menu would be always the truffle popcorn, the cheese and fruit board and any of their flatbreads. Yum and yum!

Choosing a glass or bottle of wine probably comes down to your own personal taste, but you can’t go wrong with one of their flights. Ask their sommelier, the wine steward, if you get stuck.  I think they are very reasonable at less than $20 for three glasses of wine. If you don’t like that, they always have 50 different wines by the glass to choose from and more than 500 bottles of wine.

And because both my husband and I grew up in the 70’s and loved this television show, here a lift of our wine glasses to the recent closing of the Ilikai Hotel in Honolulu. Book ‘em Dan-O.
