English Pub Style Dining at The Golden Bee, The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs

Locals and visitors to Colorado Springs all buzz on over to the Golden Bee, an English pub-style bar and restaurant, in walking distance from The Broadmoor Hotel.  Located on the east side of the Broadmoor International Center, The Golden Bee is a casual Colorado Springs dining experience.

The Broadmoor's Golden Bee offers a relaxed English pub-sytle dining room.

The Golden Bee originally came to The Broadmoor back in 1961 in a collection of wood panels and fixtures. The collection was culled from a 19th-century pub shipped from England, and then reassembled in Colorado Springs.

Step down the stairs into a lively dining adventure at The Broadmoor. Time your visit to the Golden Bee to coincide with the nightly ragtime piano music. The old piano is coaxed to life every evening at 8:30 pm by resident pianist Bud Kruezer, playing such sing-along songs as Piano Man, Sweet Caroline and Margaritaville.

Patrons often raise their pints of beers – or yards of “ale” for the more non-driving imbibers – and grab their songbooks, just as often making their own song requests. Read More »

But no.

I never thought I would hear myself utter these words, but there is actually something that shouldn’t be allowed to get into bed with bacon, and that thing is a milkshake.

Clyde’s Tower Oak Lodge – Rockville, Maryland

The cowboy steak.

When I was a little girl, my grandparents enjoyed lodge-type restaurants.  My memories of us dining out together involve lobster, steak and lots and lots of wood paneling.  Not to say they aren’t pleasant memories–just very distinct.

When a friend recently suggested that a group of us head to Clyde’s Tower Oak Lodge in Rockville, Maryland, the “lodge” part of the name didn’t strike me at first.  But as soon as we walked in the door, a sense of profound deja vu washed over me–and didn’t leave me for the rest of the evening.
