While vacationing in Long Beach last month, I dined out at several places worth writing about. One such place was Parker’s Lighthouse. We went to celebrate a special occasion so there were 20 of us. A nightmare for servers because you know, they have to split the tip.

I ordered an $11.00 glass of wine, which my mom thought was kind of expensive, but was really the average price for a glass. Little did I know, I should have saved my money for the entrees.

The kids items were priced about $6.99 or $7.99. Average prices, but the amount of food in the meal is definitely split-able. The bowl of spaghetti my oldest ordered was enough for me to eat and be satisfied. My younger son ordered the chicken strips and there were 3 or 4 pretty big pieces of chicken. Plenty of food for a three-year-old.

I ordered a Seafood Cobb salad and it was huge; for $19.00 it better it be huge. It was good, but could have used a little flavor on the shrimp.

My mom ordered some crazy garlic cheese bread, which was like pizza, a side order of crab cakes and a cup of clam chowder. The bread was fantastic the first time and even better when taken home and eaten the next day. The clam chowder, which I ordered too, was probably the best I’ve had in a while. It was perfect. Fresh pieces of clam and the balanced seasoning made it my favorite item of the night.

I have to say our servers were great and very patient with all 20 of us and were just great. We even left our server more than the included gratuity, because he kept the bread coming and we all know how important that is.

Parker’s Lighthouse is definitely a special occasion place. Take some extra cash so you can get the $46.00 steak or the $43.00 lobster. I really wanted to get one of those, but of course I had already ordered the wine. . .
