Valentine’s Day is not really celebrated in Spain, but if you’re inclined to be romantic on the 14th consider a table for two at Cafe Kafka. Sunshine streams through Cafe Kafka’s large windows which look out onto a small side-street in Barcelona’s artsy Born area. I love the interior design at this sassy-meets-chic restaurant, especially the colorful bar.
Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Tuesday, go for Cafe Kafka’s Menu del Dia, or Daily Special, which is about €15.00. This low set price includes a starter, a main dish, dessert or coffee, wine, and maybe a glass of cava! They gave us a glass of cava when I ate at Cafe Kafka, but I am not sure if that’s a normal thing. Either way, this is an exceptional deal for €15.00.
Cafe Kafka offers Mediterranean specialties, meaning lots of fish and salads. They also have classic meat dishes such as steak and pork chops. The house wine that comes with the Menu del Dia is excellent, as is the service. My only criticism is that the portions are a bit small, but then again, you’re eating several courses.
After lunch at Cafe Kafka, take your sweetie for a fun date to the Chocolate Museum, right across the street!
