Last week Whit and I were lucky enough to have one of the neighborhood moms volunteered to watch my kids for a couple of hours. We immediately took her up on the offer and headed to downtown Issaquah.

Our downtown area is awesome. It’s close enough to walk to, and more importantly, it’s close enough to walk home from. It’s always different after a couple of drinks, isn’t it?

We decided to hit up Room 38 and since it was Happy Hour, it was the place to go.

There was, what Whit called “Man Art”, on the wall and quite possibly the fastest bartender/server we’ve ever come across.  Her name is Marissa and she was fast. We ordered our drinks and I swear we only looked down for a second and she was back with beverages and a smile.  Happy hour cosmos were only $5 and bottles of Rogue Dead Guy were $2.50. I never order cosmos, but I figured that $5 bucks was a good deal.

We ordered some chips and salsa to snack on.  I think she may have just wiggled her nose, because our chips appeared like magic.  We were given two types of salsa: a pico de gallo type and a chipotle. I liked the pico, because it had a little more flavor and seasoning.

We also ordered a chicken sandwich to share, because we were bar-hopping and already had an appetizer at the local wine bar. The chicken sandwich was served on focaccia bread and was divine. The bread was soft and you put your own condiments on the sandwich so it’s just how you want it.

At the end of our meal we were surprised to see that out bill was only $17.00. That’s a pretty good deal for dinner, don’t you think?

I really think one of the best parts of small town living is all the local eateries. Some are good and some are so-so, but it’s nice to have such a great mix of people and food in such a small place.
