The Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago has recently gone through a large-scale renovation–in the bedroom department, at least. The newly redesigned accomodations are plush, roomy and comfortably modern. And while the complex is quite large, it remains open and navigable for its many business and conference guests.
The lobby has not gotten a re-do–yet. Rumor has it that it’s a-coming. But what its lobby restaurant the Bistro at 151 may lack in newness is made up for with great Wi-fi, people watching and food.
During my last trip to Chicago to do some publicity for my new book, DIRTY MINDS: HOW OUR BRAINS INFLUENCE LOVE, SEX AND RELATIONSHIPS, Hyatt invited me to lunch at its Bistro at 151. While I wasn’t blown away by the ambiance, I soon fell in love with the food. Steaming chicken soup full of homemade egg noodles, chicken and veggies? Yum. Fresh bread? Oh, yes. And a gorgeous dark chocolate tart filled with salted caramel? Sign me up!
The large, open atrium means you can watch people coming and going with ease. And the great Wi-Fi signal means you can do so while you eat up and pretend to do some work. It’s also not ridiculously expensive, especially when you’re talking a hotel restaurant. Can you say total win?
While Hyatt Regency guests are no doubt familiar with the Bistro, it’s a nice stop for those staying outside the hotel, too. Check it out before the new renovation replaces it.
