I love Vancouver, British Columbia. My first time visiting was during a summer road trip to Seattle and Bellingham, Washington to see family. I was still in high school and my mother gave me a driving lesson, driving from Bellingham to the Canadian border. It was pretty exciting, especially if you knew my mother.
Besides the drive, what I remember the most about that trip was experiencing the views and international vibe of Vancouver. The city has many different ethnicities living together. You will find Native American, British, Irish and the second largest Chinatown in North America, after San Francisco. The Vancouver restaurant scene is reflects this diverse population.
You will also notice stunning views wherever you drive or wherever you boat. Vancouver covers a wide area that includes mountains, waterways, a strait and a large peninsula. There are so many views to enjoy, and why not enjoy a nice meal at the same time? Here are three different restaurants with different waterfront views to try the next time you visit:
The Salmon House – Sitting up on a hill in West Vancouver, this restaurant started in the 1970’s all alone but with a steady flow of customers seeking out its famous chowder, Barbecued Salmon with cheddar cheese potatoes and more. Now you will find that their menu is still about quality ingredients but set in a fine dining environment.
Provence Marinaside – Award winning food, warm ambiance and friendly service is what you will get here. Come to the marina along False Creek for a seawall view and lots of fresh fish with a French accent. This is a fun place to hangout and enjoy a leisurely brunch or have them pack you a picnic!
Lift Bar Grill View Restaurant – Across the way between the Financial District and Stanley Park is this restaurant called Lift. With a high-end menu and aspirations to “lift” your expectations, the location at Coal Harbor should be a great start. At Lift you will find dishes ranging from their Signature Salad to fish entrees named Slash n Burn Halibut.
Though we have not been to these restaurants, seeing where they are located and knowing the incredible rich ingredients available to the chefs in Vancouver, the odds are high your meal will be fresh, delicious and served with an breathtaking view – and almost as exciting as driving with my mother.

[...] The Mark, located in the Hotel Grand Pacific, is one of those places that embraces the sites and sounds of the region. What I found really cool about their menu is the fact that they have an apple tasting menu. They use some of the 300 varieties of apples available to them from the Gulf Islands. Some of these apples can’t be found anywhere else in Canada. [...]
