Goat Hill Pizza: Welcome to the ‘Neighborhood’
I am too full to write.
I have just returned from all-you-can-eat “Neighborhood Night” at Goat Hill Pizza in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood.
After an evening at the dog park (where my dog Homer sat at my feet the entire time looking awkward), good buddy Kate, my boyfriend David and I decided to check out Goat Hill’s “Neighborhood Night” after our friend Tiffany suggested it. “It’s like dim sum pizza every Monday night. You’ll love it,” she said.
We walked up the hill to get there and, not surprisingly, there was about a 30-minute wait. Enough time to walk to one of the nearby bars, grab a drink and come back. Perfection.
When we were finally seated, we were served immediately. The attentive Goat Hill staff walks around with a variety of pizzas, cut into slender pieces. They come to your table and tell you what they got, and you can say, “Heck yeah” or “No, thanks.” It’s a great way to taste just about everything on their menu.
Meat lover’s pizza with salami, pepperoni and Italian sausage? Yes, please.
Spinach, feta cheese, sliced red onions and garlic? Let me make room on my plate.
Grilled chicken, mushrooms and spinach? You had me at “grilled chicken.”
Sliced red onions, green olives, fresh tomatoes, feta cheese, spiced with rosemary and thyme? Did you say “green olives”?
Pesto, fresh tomatoes and black olives? Mmmm, pesto.
Linguica, green onions, black olives & garlic? Can’t say no to linguica.
Fresh tomatoes, artichoke hearts and garlic? That’s my favorite!
It’s an entire evening devoted to delicious gluttony. I was surprised how often I told the table, “I can’t eat another bite,” only to yes to the next pizza slice dangled in front of me. The pizza slices are slim, which allows you to sample all the different offerings. Also, just because it’s “neighborhood night,” Goat Hill Pizza doesn’t skimp on anything. Each slice was hot and flavorful.
Apparently, the $10.95 all-you-can-eat special includes salad, but who has room for salad?
