  • Pull up a chair at the counter of this SF institution and enjoy some of the best Boston Clam Chowder you will ever taste. Besides Clam Chowder, most of the offerings on the menu board are served raw, cocktail-style. The Depot is also a fish market. You can buy a fillet to cook up at home. The atm... more on Yahoo! • The Scene :Once past the perpetual line, diners grab a stool behind the long, narrow marble bar. Even first-time visitors are greeted like long-lost relatives by the affable owner-operators. Decor is decidedly no-frills, with menus decking the walls and a counter cluttered with oyster crackers an... more on CitySearch
  • Turning 94 years old in 2006, Swan Oyster Depot is a classic San Francisco dining experience you shouldn't miss. Simple, Casual and Awesome....

This is a great place to duck in for some great chowder and/or shellfish. Don't let the fact thay you sit at the counter and usually have to wait in line throw you. This place is as good as it gets and worth the wait. This friendly, family-owned and operated seafood diner is a must do for locals ... tim55bear2003, a user of Yahoo! Travel. great food, poor health rating

Though the food was excellent, the Chronicle just pointed out a big kink in the restaurant's armor. The health ratings of the restaurant are appalling. Receiving a "C" rating is not a good sign for a restaurant. Handwashing - No Supplies/Employee did not Wash Hands Condition - Disrepair Improperl... dmzizmor, a user of citysearch.com.
